Besides the workshop making creatures out of junk... I also did two workshops at the Harold Martin Elementary school Art Camp where we made two alphabets into creatures. In other words, we made creatures... out of letters!
I brought sketches of some of the artworks I had up at the gallery as inspiration.
I had sketched out the letters on paper squares to give the kids a basic shape to work with - and also to make sure we had two complete alphabets. Even so, some letters morphed, and a few just... disappeared. Here's what the kids came up with for their 2 alphabets:

The art camp had kids aged 5 to 10 so there was quite a range of skills and a lot of imagination!
I received a package of thank you notes in the mail that proved my project definitely had an impact on how the kids now thought of lettering and the alphabet! I'll save these to reread on those days when I'm feeling like "what's the point".
