There's nothing like a "challenge" to get me making art again! This time, I signed up for Danny Gregory's Sketchbook Skool Journaling workshop. Really short videos and a very encouraging, sweet man with pretty eyes. OK, I can do this.
I like that he gave lots of examples and then sent us off to do whatever felt right. It was suggested that we draw ourselves in a different style, or colors, or some such and I decided to draw myself as a Muppet! Elsa Bear already looks like a Muppet, so she was easy.
My favorite assignments were to draw everyday stuff, like our desk, the steps to make our morning coffee, etc. Or a task, like "waiting" at an office. I switched that one up with Elsa Bear waiting for me to go play with her.

I liked drawing my collections, or things I had bought that day...

... and for the "Yah Lilah" image - I traced the laser cut letters that had been on my daughter's graduation cake. Not the usual way to journal the momentous occasion of my youngest finishing high school!? But it was cold and raining at the outdoor ceremony and the cake and the party were the best parts of the day.
So - yes - my daughter graduated High School, got in to Smith College, early decision, and won a bunch of scholarships - including a Scholastic award that she received at Carnegie Hall in NYC last week. I am so crazy proud of her - and a teeeeeny bit jealous that she is starting out on this incredibly exciting new journey. So, no, I didn't journal all that but "Yah Lilah" sums it all up, right?
